The goals of the Political Science Department reflect the liberal arts mission of McKendree College. Political science students are expected not only to demonstrate knowledge of the discipline, but also to demonstrate a range of skills: critical reasoning, writing, speaking, making decisions, advocating arguments, and conducting research. Our graduates are prepared to enter graduate school, law school, and the non-profit/private sector.
The Political Science and International Relations majors challenge students to understand the complexities of today's contemporary world. We provide opportunities for students to understand their own role in the world. We expect our graduates to successfully enter positions of leadership, scholarship and service as we continue to struggle with the requirements of good citizenship in the 21st century.
