IATE Standing and Ad Hoc Committees

Standing Committees

Budget Committee

Members include the president-elect as chair, the past president, the treasurer, the chair of the communications committee, and a member from the Executive Council appointed by the president. The budget is submitted for the coming year prior to the Spring meeting.

Communications Committee

The committee has at least five members including the executive director. Its responsibilities include publicizing the IATE to the Illinois State Board of Education, all teacher education institutions, and all classroom teachers cooperating in the preparation of teacher; editing the Newsletter; and publicizing all conferences.

Continuity Committee

The committee includes the past president, president, president-elect, secretary, treasurer, membership chair, and the executive director. This committee insures that the work of the IATE functions correctly.

Journal Committee

This committee includes an editor, assistant editor, and representative from the research committee, communications committee, and the executive council. The responsibilities include proposing, editing, printing, and distributing a journal.

Legislative Committee

This committee includes at least five members including the executive director. Its responsibility is to watch city, state, and federal legislation that might have possible effect on IATE activities.

Meetings Committee

The president-elect serves as the chair of this committee of five or more members. This committee makes all plans for all conferences and meetings of the IATE.

Membership Committee

This committee includes at least five members. Responsibilities revolve around building the membership of the Association.

Nominations and Elections Committee

The immediate past president serves as chair of this committee. The committee prepares a list of candidates for officers, executive council, and delegate assembly members. The slate of nominations is presented at the spring meeting of the Executive Council.

Research Committee

This committee includes five or more members. The responsibilities include encouraging, initiating, and engaging others in program development and research.

Resolutions Committee

This committee is charged with presenting to the Association resolutions that state the principles, policies, and goals of the Association and resolutions that direction action or state the position of the Association on matters of current importance.

Standards and Performance Committee

This committee works with other professional organizations in teacher education in the development and interpretation of quality standards that refer to the intent and scope of the IATE. Other activities related to the maintenance of standards and performance of individuals in the Association are also conducted by this committee.

Ad Hoc Committees

The president, with the approval of the Executive Council, may appoint or dissolve ad hoc committees and commissions as deemed necessary.

Awards and Recognitions

This committee organizes and screens candidates for awards and recognitions from the Illinois ATE.

FESN - Field Experience Supervisors Network

This group includes support for all supervisors working with field experience students throughout the Chicago area.
