I am a professor of
psychology and the acting associate dean at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois.
I teach
introduction to psychology, sport psychology, social psychology, human
sexuality, and a graduate research methods class.
I am a certified performance enhancement consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP CC) and am on the United States Olympic Committee sport psychology registry. I conduct individual and group mental training programs for various sports including auto racing, softball, soccer, tennis, basketball, bowling, golf, and volleyball. I have met with a team or individual over the entire season or just for one session. Topics I cover include: stress management, team building, coping with anxiety, positive self-talk, visualization, concentration and focus, dealing with adversity, leadership, goal setting, routines and pre-performance rituals, intensity issues, and other specific topics relevant to the team or individual. My husband and I campaign a super comp/quick rod dragster. My research interests include sport psychology (e.g., the psychology of auto racing) and pedagogical issues related to teaching.
