SPORT PSYCHOLOGY--THINK TO WIN!

Growing up I spent all of my weekends at either the stock car track or the dragstrip with my father.  In high school I played volleyball and was a cheerleader.  And my entire life I have loved the thrill of sports. My husband and I campaign a big block Chevy powered rear-engine dragster in NHRA super comp/IHRA quick rod and semi-professional bracket racing events.  In graduate school I specialized in social psychology or the study of individuals in groups.  Since 2000 I have authored articles on sport psychology entitled, "Think to Win" and have been an invited speaker at drag racing seminars.  In 2004, I was awarded a sabbatical and I took additional coursework in sport psychology and started to conduct mental training programs with individuals and groups of athletes participating in auto racing, soccer, softball, volleyball, golf, bowling, and tennis.  Since 2004, I have logged in over 1,000 hours of mental training performance enhancement experiences. I am a certified consultant through the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP CC) and am on the United States Olympic Committee Registry.  I tailor each of my sessions to the needs of the individual or the team.  I have worked with teams and individuals weekly or for one session.  Topics can include:

    *stress management
    *coping with anxiety
    *positive self-talk
    *goal setting
    *team building
    *concentration and focus
    *imagery and visualization
    *routines and pre-performance rituals
*dealing with adversity (loss, slumps, injury, etc.)
*and specific issues tailored to the individual or team need

When I am not teaching or conducing mental training programs, my husband and I campaign a drag car  (the www.tuffpaw.com Big Block Chevy powered rear engine dragster) and I love to follow the Green Bay Packers, the St. Louis Cardinals, and any Olympic sports.  Contact information:  tegglest@mckendree.edu.
